WLAN Commander sensor
NanoPi Zero2
Turn a FriendlyElec NanoPi Zero2 with an M.2 Wi-Fi card into a compact sensor for WLAN Commander. Connect over Ethernet or USB-C Ethernet.

This Armbian-based image uses mainline Linux 7.3-rc1 with drivers for modern Wi-Fi adapters. The board’s onboard Wi-Fi is not used for capture.
Intel BE200, MediaTek MT7921U, and MediaTek MT7925U have been tested on hardware. The release notes distinguish tested adapters from included drivers. Capture at 320 MHz has not been verified.

Write the image and connect.
- Download the
.img.xzimage and SHA-256 checksum file. - Use a disk imaging tool to write the image to an 8 GB or larger microSD card. Select the card carefully: flashing erases it.
- Fit the card and Wi-Fi adapter, connect Ethernet or USB-C, and power on. Allow about two minutes for the first boot; the sensor expands its filesystem and reboots once.
- Open Devices in WLAN Commander and connect to the discovered sensor. The USB-C Ethernet address is
198.18.42.1. - Log in with
wlanpi/wlanpi. Change the default password before using the sensor on a network you do not control.
The image defaults to the US regulatory domain. Configure your deployment country before use. Orb Sensor is also installed; stop its active measurements before testing throughput on the same radio.
