ESP32-C5

Flash a dual-band ESP32-C5 board and connect it to WLAN Commander over Bluetooth LE. No Linux host or SSH connection is needed.

A radio you can carry anywhere.

The C5 captures Wi-Fi management and control frames on 2.4 and 5 GHz, using 20 or 40 MHz channels. It sends those observations to WLAN Commander over Bluetooth LE and supports Passpoint ANQP queries.

Multiple boards can connect to the app. Channel coverage and assignment depend on the app version and scan configuration. The C5 does not support 6 GHz capture.

Flash over USB.

  1. Use an ESP32-C5 board with a USB data connection. The published firmware uses a 4 MB flash layout and supports compatible 4 MB and 8 MB boards.
  2. Open the browser flasher in desktop Chrome or Edge, connect the board over USB, and select its serial port.
  3. Follow the flasher instructions, then disconnect and reconnect USB. If flashing fails, use the recovery instructions on the firmware site.
  4. Open WLAN Commander, allow Bluetooth access, and connect to WLC C5 SNIFFER.
  5. Choose your channels and start the scan. The board boots idle and begins capture when the app starts it.

The browser flasher needs Web Serial on a supported desktop browser. Use a data-capable USB cable. The firmware is for ESP32-C5; other ESP32 variants require different firmware.

Manual firmware download.

Download the application binary (1,393,568 bytes). This is the application portion only. A first installation also needs the bootloader and partition files at the offsets documented in the manual flashing guide.
